Public Forums : Video and Public Comment

At every public forum and School Committee meeting on the project, public comment has run strongly against the proposed reconfiguration. (You can browse Amherst Media, but the Wildwood / Elementary project meetings are not all listed in the School section.)

  • Sept 29, 2015 “Wildwood Forum”. (video) First public forum presenting plans about the “Wildwood Building Project”, and advertised as the “Wildwood Forum.” Architect and District presentations took more than an hour before parents were permitted to ask questions.  Many parents were present, and were concerned about the (new to them) presentation of the reconfiguration option. One parent asked point-blank if there were favorite options or if all options including renovation were still on the table and was assured that it all options were being considered. Just a week or two later a draft of the School Administration’s report recommending Reconfiguration was obtained. The recommendation was made public at the October 20, 2015, School Committee meeting.
